Our Hiking Routes in Cap de Creus

HOW TO GET TO FIGUERES

We have two types of routes:
One longer (more intense); and another shorter and easier, perfect for families and kids.
Here are the details.

1. 4-Hour Guided Route in Cap de Creus

HOW TO GET TO FIGUERES

Distance: 9 km
Difficulty: hard
Elevation gain: 510 meters
Duration: 4 hours

This is a circular route, where we follow the following itinerary through Cap de Creus Natural Park:

  • Start from Mas Rabassers de Baix: from our meeting point, we follow the river path toward Cala Portaló. This trail runs along the shore and ends at the beach.
  • Swimming in the cove: we will swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of this beautiful Mediterranean cove. And watch out, we won’t be alone. Hopefully, we’ll be accompanied by various species of fish, octopuses, and starfish among other aquatic inhabitants.
  • Continue towards Galladera: after the dip, we take off our snorkeling gear and continue hiking through Cap de Creus. This time on a zigzag trail passing through cistus bushes. Upon reaching the summit, we enter a mountainous area.
  • Last stretch to Cala Galladera: this final part to the cove is slightly more challenging, but once there, you’ll enjoy spectacular views.
  • Views of the maritime area and Portaló Island: from this cove, we’ll admire a beautiful panorama of Portaló Island and the Silbato passage, named after the whistle-like sound the wind makes as it passes through.

In summary, this Cap de Creus hiking route offers unforgettable trails, coves, and landscapes.
A must-do excursion on your visit to the wildest and most authentic Costa Brava.

2. Visit to the Tudela Natural Area (2-Hour Route)

HOW TO GET TO FIGUERES

Distance: 5.6 km
Difficulty: easy
Elevation gain: 150 meters
Duration: 2 hours

This route is ideal for families who want to hike in Cap de Creus accompanied by young children, as the path presents no technical difficulty.
In this tour, we explore the natural space of the Tudela area, one of the most spectacular spots in Cap de Creus.
Tudela is known for the special geological interest of its formations, and it was also the inspiration for much of Salvador Dalí’s work.
You’ll see examples of how rocks, eroded over millions of years by wind and sea, take on strange shapes.
These random morphologies resemble figures such as a rabbit, a camel, an eagle… or whatever your imagination wants to see.
Besides this, Tudela is one of the areas with the greatest plant and animal biodiversity.
Discover this unique natural space with us!

Here’s what the route includes:

  • Starting point: we start (and finish) at the junction of the Cadaqués to Cap de Creus road, right where the paved Tudela road begins.
  • Trail to the parking lot: we walk about 400 meters until we reach the Tudela parking area.
  • Path to Cala Culip: then we continue along the paved road that runs through the entire Tudela area until Cala Culip. Along the way, we’ll explain the various points of interest in this part of the route.
  • Return: we return along the same path, though optionally you can take a shortcut via a dirt trail.
